The buying brief

Considered on the car's own terms.

MotorSignet considers selected GT-Rs across the modern R35 and collector Skyline generations.

We buy the GT-R across both its eras. The modern R35 is built around Nissan's hand-assembled twin-turbo V6, a dual-clutch transaxle and ATTESA four-wheel drive, with the Nismo taking turbochargers from the model's GT3 racing programme. The Skyline generations, R32, R33 and R34, revived the GT-R name with a turbocharged straight-six and the same four-wheel-drive layout.

Modification is common on the GT-R, so originality and documentation lead the review. A standard, unopened car is assessed on exactly that; a modified one on how well the work was done and recorded. Either way, tell us honestly what has been changed, by whom, with invoices where you have them.

Many Skyline GT-Rs reached the UK through age-related import, so import history and current registration status are part of an honest submission. For any generation, the fuller the record, service history, ownership, factory specification and any competition or import paperwork, the more completely a specialist can review the car.

Questions

Before you begin.

º1Do you consider left-hand-drive or imported Nissan GT-Rs?

Yes. Use the manual-details route and include the country of registration, the registration or VIN, service history and current location.

º2Do you consider both R35 GT-Rs and earlier Skyline GT-Rs?

Yes. Selected R35 and significant earlier Skyline GT-R models are considered; include the model, specification and history when you enquire.

º3Do modifications or a tuned GT-R rule it out?

Not automatically. Many are modified; describe the work honestly and keep the original parts and documentation where possible.

º4Is there any obligation after I submit my car?

No. A submission and personal review do not commit you to accepting an offer.

º5What happens if the car has outstanding finance?

Tell us when you submit the car. If a purchase is agreed, the settlement is handled with the lender as part of completion.

º6Can you consider an imported or overseas-registered car?

Yes, case by case. Imported, left-hand-drive and overseas-registered cars can be considered. Use the manual-details route and include the VIN, registration and current location where available.

º7Will the car be advertised publicly?

No. MotorSignet purchases suitable cars directly and reviews every enquiry personally from first contact.
