The buying brief

Considered on the car's own terms.

This is a selective buying brief for significant AMG and collector Mercedes models, not ordinary series-production cars.

This brief runs across two lineages. One is the AMG two-seaters: the gullwing SLS AMG and its track-focused Black Series, the flat-plane-crank AMG GT Black Series and the GT R Pro. The other is the Woking-built SLR McLaren, its 722 and 722 S specials, and the Cosworth-developed 190E Evo II homologation saloon.

A specialist reads the exact specification first, because these cars turn on it: which AMG hand-built engine and state of tune, whether carbon-ceramic brakes and other options were fitted, and how much of the factory aero and lightweight build remains original. On the SLR cars, the supercharged V8 and carbon structure anchor the review.

Use and history close it out. Track days, long storage and recommissioning are all normal for these cars, and none rules one out; describe them honestly, along with roof condition on the 722 S Roadster. For the Evo II, the car as it stands today matters more than competition-linked paperwork. Send what you hold and the review follows the car.

Questions

Before you begin.

º1Which Mercedes-AMG models do you consider?

Selected AMG and special-series Mercedes, from significant modern cars to earlier hand-built examples, considered on their individual specification and history.

º2Do you consider a Mercedes-AMG with aftermarket work?

It is not ruled out. Describe every modification and include the original parts or documentation where available; originality and changes are considered together.

º3Is there any obligation after I submit my car?

No. A submission and personal review do not commit you to accepting an offer.

º4What happens if the car has outstanding finance?

Tell us when you submit the car. If a purchase is agreed, the settlement is handled with the lender as part of completion.

º5Can you consider an imported or overseas-registered car?

Yes, case by case. Imported, left-hand-drive and overseas-registered cars can be considered. Use the manual-details route and include the VIN, registration and current location where available.

º6Will the car be advertised publicly?

No public listing is required. MotorSignet purchases suitable cars directly and can handle the enquiry privately from first contact.
