This is a selective buying brief for significant AMG and collector Mercedes models, not ordinary series-production cars.
This brief runs across two lineages. One is the AMG two-seaters: the gullwing SLS AMG and its track-focused Black Series, the flat-plane-crank AMG GT Black Series and the GT R Pro. The other is the Woking-built SLR McLaren, its 722 and 722 S specials, and the Cosworth-developed 190E Evo II homologation saloon.
A specialist reads the exact specification first, because these cars turn on it: which AMG hand-built engine and state of tune, whether carbon-ceramic brakes and other options were fitted, and how much of the factory aero and lightweight build remains original. On the SLR cars, the supercharged V8 and carbon structure anchor the review.
