The entry

The Ferrari F40.

The F40 carried over the 288 GTO's twin-turbocharged V8 into a composite body mounted on a tubular steel frame, with weight stripped from the cabin and equipment list throughout.

It was the last new model Enzo Ferrari personally approved before his death in 1988, opening the flagship lineage later continued by the F50, Enzo and LaFerrari.

Cars in this category, Twin-turbo V8 flagship, tend to draw interest for the engineering story behind them as much as the name on the badge. We review your Ferrari F40 on those terms, its own history and condition, not against a generic pricing model.

If you're selling a Ferrari F40, send the details and a specialist reviews it personally.

What we look for

The same honest review, every time.

  • 01

    Documented history

Service records and provenance, however complete. Gaps are normal, tell us what you have.

  • 02

    Originality and modifications

What's original, what's been changed, and why. Neither rules a car out on its own.

  • 03

    Condition, honestly described

Mechanical and cosmetic condition, including anything currently outstanding.

  • 04

    Paperwork and finance

Outstanding finance or documentation to sort. Part of an honest submission, not a dealbreaker.

The private route

Footnotes

º1Do you buy the Ferrari F40?

Ferrari F40 entries are considered privately, case by case. Availability and purchase appetite depend on provenance, specification, history and seller expectations. Submit the details or call, and a senior specialist comes back to you directly.

º2Do you need to see the car before making an offer?

A specialist reviews the details you submit first. If it fits what we buy, you'll receive a direct purchase offer, then an inspection follows before anything is finalised.

º3Is there any obligation once I submit?

None. Submitting your car and receiving a direct purchase offer costs you nothing and commits you to nothing.

º4What if it's on finance or has a modification history?

Tell us up front. Neither rules it out, they're just part of an honest submission so any offer reflects the real car. Outstanding finance is settled directly with your lender as part of completion.

º5How does the sale actually work?

You submit privately, no public listing. A specialist reviews it personally. If it fits what we buy, you receive a direct purchase offer. If you accept, inspection and collection are arranged privately, with payment by bank transfer at handover, and we aim to complete within 7 days where checks and paperwork are ready.

º6Do you buy F40s with later factory updates or non-original specification?

Yes, tell us the exact specification and any changes made since new as part of your submission.

This page describes a type of car we buy and source privately, not a specific example currently held or for sale.
